Hudson Valley Art Workshop Week

Demonstrating the various uses of a painting knife

Talking about something, maybe about the one that got away

Just had a great week teaching my painting workshop at the Greenville Arms 1889 Inn in Greenville, NY, organized and hosted by new friends Kim and Mark of Hudson River Valley Art Workshops. I want to thank all of the workshop artists for their hard work and being so gracious for listening to my stories and jokes all week. I enjoyed meeting everyone and had a wonderful time. To see more workshop photos, visit Barbara's blog, Life with Peter. She'll be posting throughout the week.

Visual Tangle

Untitled, oil/panel, 18x24

New painting underway -- dealing with light, color and shadows. What I was attracted to was the tangle of various shadow colors and the variations of green and dappled light falling on the ground, tree trunks and leaves creating what appeared to be a visual tangle. The tangle, a subject that I find more and more compelling, making order out of visual chaos.
